Inhibits CYP3A4, CYP2D6, CYP2C9 and P-glycoprotein, so it can slow how your body clears a wide range of medicines and raise their blood levels. Statins, cyclosporine, some blood thinners and some antidepressants are all affected. It also lowers blood sugar. Not for use in pregnancy or while nursing, and never for newborns.
Its structure resembles heparin and it shows anticoagulant and antiplatelet activity. Combining it with warfarin, clopidogrel, apixaban, rivaroxaban or daily aspirin needs medical advice. Stop before surgery.
Each lowers blood sugar mildly. Together with berberine that is four ingredients acting on the same system in one capsule. In someone already on diabetes medicine this is the most realistic safety concern in the formula.
May add to the effect of SSRIs and other serotonergic antidepressants. May lower blood pressure slightly and may have a mild antiplatelet effect. Avoid in pregnancy.

Fucoxanthin and fucoidan can carry iodine, and excess iodine can disturb thyroid function. Relevant if you have a thyroid condition or take levothyroxine — berberine can also affect levothyroxine absorption.
Stop immediately and seek medical attention for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, rash, swelling or difficulty breathing. You can also report a problem with any supplement to the FDA through its MedWatch programme — that is how patterns get spotted.
